Career and Academic Success Coach - 994965 Overview Nova Southeastern University (NSU) invites applications for the position of Career and Academic Success Coach. Primary Purpose The Career and Academic Success Coach provides support and guidance to an industry-focused cohort to help students achieve their educational and career goals. Responsibilities include creating and monitoring the student’s individualized success plan, developing pipelines of experiential learning opportunities, and building partnerships with the assigned college to support student success. Job Details Job Category: Exempt Hiring Range: $52,000.00 Pay Basis: Annually Subject to Grant Funding? No Essential Job Functions Assess students’ strengths and weaknesses in academic, career, and personal development; identify factors affecting progress; interpret non-cognitive assessment results; guide students to set realistic academic and career goals; develop an Individualized Student Success Plan and Portfolio. Monitor academic progress by analyzing progress reports, determine eligibility and progress toward degree, identify needs or problem areas, help students access college resources, and support retention; participate in retention goals. Provide information on degree programs and concentration options. Counsel students on educational issues, including course and program selection, scheduling, and registration. Develop and deliver workshops and trainings for the industry-focused cohort; conduct group sessions during new student orientations and Shark Preview. Communicate with the student cohort through multiple channels (in-person, group meetings, college-supported technologies, email, phone, text, and social media). Provide analysis and written reports on cohort progress; contribute to retention and graduation efforts. Collaborate with Employer Relations, college faculty, and other partners to identify industry-specific opportunities and solutions for the cohort. Explain University and college policies and procedures; attend college faculty meetings and serve as liaison for the Career and Academic Advising Center. Conduct exit interviews with withdrawing students to inform retention strategies and new plans. Complete professional development and required University/Department training; perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree Required Experience: Two (2) years in a counseling/advising capacity; proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge: Psychology, Therapy and Counseling, English Language, Education and Training, Customer and Personal Service. Skills: Active Listening, Speaking, Social Perceptiveness, Critical Thinking, Writing, Judgment and Decision Making, Active Learning, Complex Problem Solving, Service Orientation, Microsoft Office Suite. Abilities: Deductive Reasoning, Problem Sensitivity, Inductive Reasoning. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Speech Recognition and Clarity; Near Vision.
